Lighting is an important area of theatrical technology. I can see this technology being applied in absolutely every play. It is important for the characters to be seen which is why lights are put out. Sometimes spot lights on a specific character can make emphasis on them that without a light you might not even notice. According to my source lightning helps create environment in a show. It did not contradict my own ideas of what I thought about lighting already because I either already knew about some of the facts of lightning mentioned on my site or it was new information that I didn't know before. According to my website lightning does more then just show what's going on onstage but also by attracting the audiences attention to a specific person or area on stage it distracts it from other things going on which can be the change of setting or moving actors on or off stage. What I didn't know was that lighting can alter the perception of certain shapes such as 3 dimensional ones. Most of the information was new to me but useful as well because it made me more knowlegable. It further explained certain lighting tools that I've seen at the theatre and knew that they were used for lighting but didn't know exactly how they functioned, such as reflectors, lenses, light soruces (lamps) , and several other things.
